AUSTIN, Texas — Police have identified a man killed in a shooting in North Austin over the weekend.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, a 911 caller reported a shooting at the Ten Oaks Apartments, located at 12612 N. Lamar Blvd, near Parmer Lane and Interstate 35.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The man, later identified as 30-year-old Henry Martinez, was pronounced dead at 4:52 a.m.
Austin Police Department (APD) homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses. APD said the initial investigation showed that Martinez ran up to his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle with a pickaxe and was shot by a man inside the vehicle.

APD is investigating this incident as the city’s 14th homicide of the year.
