Lennon Miller insists transfer speculation is background noise and is focused on improving his performances at Motherwell.

The 18-year-old has been impressive since breaking into the first team two seasons ago, and has been touted with a big-money move elsewhere.

But Miller says he doesn’t pay attention to that, and is helped in that regard by his dad Lee, who is a former Aberdeen and Dundee United striker.

Lennon said: “I just want to focus on my time here, hopefully put in many more good performances, and see where that takes me.

“I don’t really look at it [speculation], to be honest, it’s just background noise, for me. I just focus on training every day, on a game on a Saturday.

“It is hard to shut it out sometimes, but I think my dad has been a massive help in keeping me away from that side of it, and I’m just focusing on football.

“It’s obviously nice, people speculating, and having such big clubs being in for you is nice, but for me it’s just put to the side and I’ll focus on my time here.

“I want to perform as well as I can, show what I can do for the manager who has given me the opportunity to play.

“It has helped, being in from such a young age. I was 16 when I made my debut, and to be 18 it feels quite old now actually!

“But to have all these games under my belt is only going to help me in the future, and hopefully there are many more to come.”

Miller admits he has had to get to grips with a more forward position this season, but hopes it leads to more goals and assists.

He said: “I’m enjoying it. It’s another position that I can play, I feel like I’m learning it more, now.

“I kind of struggled at the start of the season. It was new for me, being higher up the park, and different receiving positions and things like that, but I feel like I’ve learned it now and I’m really enjoying it.

“It’s something that I set myself at the start of the season, that I wanted to score more goals and get more assists, so being higher up the park is going to help that, and hopefully I can get a few this season.

“I want to get assists, and more from open play, not just from set-pieces, so hopefully I can get more.”

Having set up goals for Paul McGinn and Stephen O’Donnell in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Hearts – with Tom Sparrow also on the score-sheet – Miller hopes for more of the same against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park tomorrow.

He said: “We’re looking forward to another game to go and express ourselves and try to get three points.

“The game on Sunday was probably our best performance of the season, we want to kick on from that, and hopefully progress more.

“Winning the game is going to boost confidence, and the performance that we thought was really good, and how we planned during the week, is going to boost confidence for everybody in the changing room.

“I got two assists and I always look to improve on the week before, so hopefully I can get a wee goal this time.”
