INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – It’s a tragedy in Indianapolis after a 3-year-old boy was killed Monday night in a double shooting.

The incident happened at a shopping center; the young boy had just celebrated his birthday over the weekend.

People are still trying to wrap their heads around how 3-year-old Armonie Booker died.

“As soon as I seen it on social media, I just threw my phone because I was angry because how could you kill a 3-year-old?” Tiah Gathings, Armonie’s barber, asked.

Gathings says she’s been cutting Armonie’s hair for about a year-and-a-half now. She cut his hair for his birthday.

“We were just talking about his birthday,” Gathings said. We were just like, ‘Your birthday coming up now. You going to be a big boy now,’ and he was just saying, ‘Yes, yes, Ms. Tiah,’ and I was just like, ‘OK.’”

Gathings says when Armonie was sitting in her chair, he’d say hi to anybody who walked by.

“He’s interesting. He’s so full of life. He’s just so well-behaved, well-mannered,” Gathings remembered. “He’s just character. He just has so much personality, like that’s what drew me into him.”

Police are looking through surveillance footage to piece together what happened.

Gathings said she believes Armonie’s smile will live with her forever.

“His face, his little face. He was just so cute. He was so adorable,” Gathings said. “I mean, I just take all of that. His little conversations because he would definitely speak to me, what he liked, what he didn’t like. He was very vocal, so that’s what I would take away from him is just his face. I’m going to definitely miss his face.”

A 22-year-old man was also killed in the shooting.
