The city of Austin is uncertain when the pool will reopen.

AUSTIN, Texas — If you were thinking of visiting Barton Springs Pool this Friday, you might be out of luck.

On Thursday, the city of Austin shared a release stating the Austin public pool is closed for maintenance until further notice

The city said the repair is directly related to the pool and is not associated with the Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse Rehabilitation Project, which will remain closed through spring 2025

KVUE reached out to the city of Austin Friday morning and received the following response: “We’re waiting for an update from our maintenance teams. As soon as we get new information to share, we’ll send an update out.”

Typically, the pool closes every Thursday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. for routine maintenance, but the recent shut down appears to be a separate issue.

Other facility closures include Martin Pool, which will not open until summer 2025; Pease Park Splash Pad, which is shut down indefinitely after a water main leak; and Montopolis Pool, set to reopen in spring 2026 after flooding concerns.
