ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) – A mother in New York says a stranger brutally attacked her last month and first responders didn’t respond to the scene.

Celeta Johnson said she was viciously beaten inside a convenience store in the Rochester area while her 7-year-old son was by her side.

“The argument started when he bum-rushed my child,” Johnson said.

The 35-year-old woman said she suffered a broken nose and a fractured orbital bone.

“He basically sucker punched me, but I did defend myself and fought him back,” Johnson said.

Other customers called 911, but first responders reportedly did not show up.

One witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said Johnson and her son sat behind the counter waiting for an ambulance for nearly two hours.

“Nobody showed up, no ambulance, no police and she had been bleeding from her nose and eyes,” they said.

Johnson said that’s when she decided to take matters into her own hands and ordered her own ride.

“Police never came, first responders never came. I had to take an Uber to the hospital,” she said.

According to Johnson, her attacker also remains free.

“I actually have seen him walking the streets. Like they still haven’t arrested him,” Johnson said.

Rochester police say no arrests have been made, but their investigation remains ongoing.
