A member of 00s pop group Atomic Kitten has reportedly hinted at a reunion – but without Kerry Katona.
Atomic Kitten was initially made up of Kerry, Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon. They launched in 1998 but in 2001, Kerry left the group after becoming pregnant with her first child.
The pop group scored three UK number one singles – most famous of those was Whole Again – and achieved two UK number one albums in the early 2000s.
Kerry, who is now 43, was replaced with Jenny Frost at the time.
With bands such as the Sugababes, Oasis and Girls Aloud all fuelling our nostalgia these days, star Natasha recently addressed the prospect of getting the group back together.
‘Never say never, who knows what could bring us back together?’, she explained to The Daily Star.
As she continued chatting, Natasha, 42, made sure to note the other two members of Atomic Kitten on her mind. ‘I’d love to do something again with myself, with Liz and with Jen. Who knows? The door’s always open for Jen to come back whenever she wants.’
When contacted for comment, Kerry told : ‘I wish nothing but the best for girls’.
In 2023, Kerry opened up about the ongoing issues between her and her former bandmates.
In her column for New! Magazine, she said she’s ‘really sad’ to not be speaking to Natasha and Liz anymore.
‘When something like this happens it brings home how I feel about my relationship with the Atomic Kitten girls. It’s really sad that we don’t talk. I’ve reached out to them so many times. Life is too short.’
Earlier this year, Natasha began her second go at a solo career after saying she was left ‘traumatised’ by her experiences in Atomic Kitten.
Appearing on ITV’s This Morning in June, Natasha said: ‘I’ve never been solo. Life takes over, I’ve had five kids and I fell out of love with music, but I found my way back.’
Natasha did release one solo single in 2010, titled Mrs. Emotional, and she performed vocals on the 2007 single Round & Round by Dutch DJ Mischa Daniels.
After a few years away, she said she’s ready to come back to pop music: ‘It would have been a big regret if I hadn’t returned to music, it was an itch that needed itching.’
When asked about her life immediately after Atomic Kitten, she revealed: ‘I was traumatised. I’d had five intense years with Atomic Kitten and when that came to an end, it was really abrupt. I wasn’t too wasn’t too well at the time.’
She said she learned a lot about who her friends were at the time: ‘Everyone disappeared. Friends were leaving. I realised who my friends were, people came and went.’
