A group of Scots childhood friends have revisited a harrowing ‘alien encounter’ that has haunted them for decades.

Anne Calder, 54, Pamela Pollok, 53, and May Brown, 55, were among a group of five friends, aged between eight and ten, who believe they encountered a ‘being not of this world’ while walking together in 1978, reports Edinburgh Live.

The alleged incident occurred on an old railway line beneath the bridge on Suttieslea Road in Newtongrange.

Frozen with fear, the group vividly recalls seeing a three-foot-tall ‘alien’ perched in a tree along a path they had walked many times before.

The three women describe the alien as having glowing yellow eyes, grey skin, and a synthesized voice, though oddly, it had no mouth. Reflecting on the experience, they now believe the alien may have communicated with them telepathically.

After the creature ‘spoke’ to them, the group claims to have blacked out, only to find themselves standing in a field about five minutes away, with no memory of how they got there.

Anne, who has suffered from night terrors since the event, believes they may have lost consciousness because they were taken aboard a UFO.

Although the friends lost touch over the years, they now feel it’s time to share their ‘truth,’ despite the potential for ridicule.

“We were out walking Anne’s dog Tanya past the old play park,” Mary said. “We walked along the railway line and got to the bridge and approached a large tree.

“Tanya, who is normally very placid, started barking and going crazy. That alerted us to the small creature in a tree in front of us.

“It was not human. I would say it was maybe three feet in height and was a grey colour.

“But it had these big bright yellow piercing eyes. I will never forget them for the rest of my days.”

The friends were paralysed with fear, unable to move, as they all recalled hearing the alleged alien communicate with them. Anne claims the creature said: “Don’t be afraid, I will not harm you.”

Se said. “For me the fear was if we did say something, then I worried something bad would happen to us.

“It was never spoken of again among us.”

The next thing they remember is blacking out and then regaining consciousness in a field near the former Sneddon’s factory, about five minutes away.

None of the women recall how they got to the field or what happened between the alien communication and their arrival at that location.

Pamela said that everyone in the group agreed on what they had just experienced and made a pact to never speak of the encounter again.

Pamela reiterated what Mary said about the bright yellow glowing eyes which were alien in shape but different from the traditional black description which had been given by others.

Despite blacking out for a period of time, no one in the group remembers having any bruising or markings.

“I do not remember coming home or anything after,” Mary said. “But it sticks in my mind what we saw in those trees.”

Anne admits that the encounter left her deeply traumatised, and she hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in over 40 years due to recurring night terrors.

She believes these night terrors could be linked to the possibility of being inside a UFO and suspects this might be why the group blacked out.

“It felt like our memory was erased after it communicated with us, it was really bizarre,” she said. “I can only describe its voice as a synthesised vibrating voice.

“None of us remember it having a mouth so I think it may have been a telepathic communication. The voice was not natural at all.

“I’ve never heard anything like it. It was not normal.

“Like Mary said, it had glowing bright yellow eyes with pointed ears. The closest thing I’ve ever found which matched our description was the Kelly–Hopkinsville encounter in 1955.

“A couple of years after the event I started having the same night terror. I’m in a room, it’s dark, and there are no doors or windows and I’m pushing and screaming for help because I cannot get out.

“I’ve not had a full night’s sleep in 40 odd years. Sleeping tablets don’t work because I’m terrified.

“When I do fall asleep I have this same night terror and the doctor has tried everything. Nothing works.

“It does look to me like these night terrors could be terrifying memories of being on a UFO. It is so strange, it’s always the exact same terror I have with no doors or windows and I’m screaming for help because I can’t get out.”

When they returned to the scene of the incident, Pamela felt chills, and Mary had a subconscious sense that they were being watched.

Over the years, the women began to confide in those close to them, often met with skeptical reactions. However, they decided to share their story publicly before it was too late.

“One of our friends who was with us at the time but is not here today asked me 25 years ago if I remembered what happened,” Anne said. “I knew exactly what she was referring to.

“She said whatever that was, it was real, that happened. But we were too frightened to discuss it properly.

“I approached the girls because I wanted to share our truth. Lots of people say they have seen UFOs but very few have had real life face to face contact with something not of this world and we have.

“I want our truth out there before I pass away and it might help me get over the terrors. We want others to know it’s not just UFOs out there.

“You can carry out any lie detector test in the world on us and I guarantee you we will all pass because we are telling the truth. It definitely was not human and it felt as though it had chosen for us to see it.

“I’ve had people ask me if it was someone dressed up or an animal, even someone asking if it was a talking owl. We know for a fact it was not from this planet.”

Pamela ended the interview by saying: “I think it is ignorant for humans to think we are the only intelligent life out there.”
