BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be aware of a scam going around.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, they have received reports of scammers calling people claiming to be from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office saying they missed Jury Duty and that a subpoena has been issued for their arrest.

The scammers warn people to not go to the Sheriff’s Office because they will be arrested if they do so. Using apps, social media and other sources, the scammers are able to make it look legitimate.

The Sheriff’s Office says if you get a call from someone claiming to be from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department asking for money, hang up and don’t give out any information.

If you have any questions or concerns, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office says to call them at 304-255-9300 or visit their law enforcement headquarters at 308 Ned Payne Drive in Beckley.
