LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A Knox County man is behind bars after police said he fired multiple shots into a home.

Deputies were dispatched to a home off Wagers Road early Monday morning where they found a man with a bullet wound.

After an investigation, officers said they found Joseph Collett, 26, of Gray, had walked up to the house, shot and killed a dog and forced his way into the victim’s home.

Police said Collett then fired multiple shots in the home, striking the man and nearly shooting a 4-year-old.

The victim was treated on scene by first responders.

Police arrested Joseph Collett and took him to the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Collett is charged with attempted murder, first degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of first degree of wanton endangerment and second degree animal cruelty.
