ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The Roanoke Police Department has released the names of the officers involved in a Thursday morning shooting.

Police say officers responded to a domestic disturbance at 12:53 a.m. in an apartment in the 700 block of 29th St. NW. Officers located a woman suffering from a stab wound outside the apartment and a man was located inside still armed with a knife, police say.

According to police, officers told the man to drop his weapon, but he refused. The man then advanced toward officers and police tased him. The man continued to move toward police and was fatally shot.

The name of the suspect has not been released; he was 26 years old, according to police.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released. No officers were injured during the incident, according to police.

The officers include Officer D. Gilliam with almost 2 years of service, Officer R. Germ with two years of service, Officer A. Longenecker with nearly 2 years of service, Officer T. Buquor with five years of service, and Sergeant T. Landes, with 10 years of service.

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as Virginia State Police investigate the shooting.
