A pensioner has died in a tragic incident at a swimming pool in Fife.
Emergency services raced to Carnegie Leisure Centre on Pilmuir Street in Dunfermline after the alarm was raised at around 6.30am on Tuesday. Ambulance crews received a report of a 70-year-old man having taken ill at the baths.
He was rushed to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The death is currently being treated as unexplained, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, we were made aware of a person having taken unwell in Pilmuir Street area of Dunfermline.
“Emergency services attended and a 70-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
