A vile man has been put on the sex offenders’ register after incidents involving teenagers on trains.

Airdrie Sheriff Court heard that passenger Mark Farrelly shouted, swore and asked a girl to kiss him, and also touched her body repeatedly.

It happened during a train journey between Motherwell and Whifflet on August 18 last year.

Farrelly, 54, of Robert Gilson Gardens in Coatbridge, then uttered remarks of a sexual nature towards a teenage male.

That incident occurred on a train on the same route on October 1.

Farrelly admitted charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and indecent communication.

Sheriff Siobhan Connelly deferred sentence until next month for a criminal justice social work report and an electronic tagging assessment.

Farrelly was put on the sex offenders’ register with immediate effect.

The sheriff is also to consider imposing a sexual offences prevention order following a request by British Transport Police.
