CLARKSBURG, W.Va (WDTV) – A Clarksburg man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for selling fentanyl in Upshur County.

James Breeden, 30, was sentenced to 124 months, or 10 years and four months, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Upshur County deputies witnessed a vehicle speed into a motel parking lot and saw Breeden engage in activity indicative of drug trafficking, according to court documents and statements made in court. Eventually, deputies executed a search warrant on Breeden’s motel room and found 277 fentanyl stamps.

Breeden will be on three years of supervised release following his prison sentence, officials said.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
