LAINGSBURG, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) – Police in Michigan responded to Sleepy Hollow State Park early Wednesday morning for a report of a shooting.

Authorities in Clinton County responded to the call for a 42-year-old hunter from St. Johns who accidentally shot himself in the leg shortly before 7 a.m.

Deputies used GPS information from the hunter’s 911 call to locate the man. However, the man had already died from his injuries, according to authorities.

The hunter’s name has not yet been released.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
