A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Dundee.

The victim, 17, had been making her way home from a night out when she was allegedly approached by a gang of men on Dens Road near its junction with Laing Street at 3.10am on Sunday. One of the males allegedly grabbed the woman and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

Detectives investigating the incident confirmed a 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection. He has been released pending further inquiries.

Inquiries remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland statement reads: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old woman in Dundee. The incident happened around 3.10am on Sunday, 11 August, 2024, Dens Road near to its junction with Laing Street.

“The 25-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 3 September, and was released pending further enquiries. Inquiries remain ongoing.”
