(CNN) – Target is bringing back its popular car seat trade-in program that aims to reduce waste in landfills.

Starting Sept. 15, you can drop off your old car seat at Target. In return, you will get a 20% discount for a new car seat, stroller or select baby gear.

Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats regardless of their condition including car seat bases and booster car seats.

The materials from the old car seats are recycled to create pallets, plastic buckets, steel beams and carpet padding.

The car seat recycling event is part of the company’s goal of zero waste in landfills by 2030.

The program runs through Sept. 28.
