A new car wash business could be coming to Whitletts Road in Ayr.

A planning application has been submitted seeking permission for a change of use to a piece of vacant land at 169 Whitletts Road.

The site has been subject to a variety of planning applications over the years and it was previously earmarked for a retail development with drive through coffee shop.

It’s understood that the site was once home to a petrol station.

However, none of the proposals after the closure of the petrol station came to pass and now a fresh application has been submitted to South Ayrshire Council for consideration.

Agents in these latest proposals are Edesign Architecture & Planning Ltd and the applicant is TDR Group Holdings Ltd, based in Dundonald.

The plans show six covered car wash bays with a storage container sited in the middle, used to store plant equipment and other associated materials.

The applicants are seeking permission for a change of use from petrol filling station to form car wash, including, “erection of canopy, siting of storage container, formation of valet bays and erection of fencing.”

The proposals are listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision on them is expected in October.
