HALLANDALE, Fla. (WFOR) – No injuries were reported after the roof of a Florida apartment partially collapsed.

The woman and her six children who live there made it out with moments to spare Tuesday morning.

Tkyana Bryant walked in the door that morning after a long shift at work.

“I literally came home from working 12 hours and I heard the beam cracking, and that’s what made me take my kids out of here. We would have still been in there. I got everybody out before it started dropping. And my last son, my last son is the one who literally was coming down, and I’m pulling him out as it’s coming down,” she said.

The roof came crumbling down just moments after she pulled her six children, ranging in ages from 22 to 4 years old, out.

Bryant said it was only a matter of time before it happened.

“Black mold, termites, all types of stuff, I’ve been telling this man. He don’t fix nothing,” she said.

Bryant said she has been trying to get her landlord to fix the issues. She showed a reporter at WFOR documents from code enforcement.

The reporter called the landlord. He did not answer, but the reporter left a voicemail.

“I don’t get Section Eight. I don’t get none of that. I work. I go to work and pay my rent every month. Every month, I go to work and pay my rent, and this is what I get,” Bryant said.

Red Cross showed up to help the family, as they cannot access their clothes, groceries or other personal belongings in the unit, but they are still unsure of where they are going to live now.

Bryant said she saved what is most precious to her.

“I could have lost my kids this morning. We sleep in the living room. I could have lost my kids,” she said.

The Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said recent heavy rain is likely to blame for the roof collapse.
