A man has been detained after a “potential safety issue” allegedly involving his drone forced Green Day to be pulled offstage in the midst of their Detroit show Wednesday night.

“There was an individual that flew a drone into Comerica Park, and because of that, Green Day was taken off the stage,” police spokesman Cpl. Dan Donakowski told the Detroit Free Press. “DPD located this individual outside of Comerica Park. He is being detained pending further investigation.”

The punk rock trio — comprised of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool — ditched the stage as crew members signaled to them in the wings at roughly 8:50 p.m., per the outlet. The ordeal occurred during the band’s performance of their song “Longview.”

“SHOW PAUSE: PLEASE STANDBY FOR DETAILS,” screens in the stadium quickly alerted the audience of more than 35,000 people.

The band returned to the stage roughly 10 minutes later, at which point Armstrong allegedly said, “Ain’t no motherf—er that’s gonna stop us, I’ll tell you that.”

The band also apologized “for the delay in the show” in a since-deleted tweet, published by TMZ.

“Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue,” Green Day wrote on social media. “DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.”

Armstrong ultimately concluded the show with an apparent nod to the security issue, telling the crowd it was “a night we’re all going to remember!” per the Detroit Free Press.

Green Day is currently on their Savior Tour, meant to commemorate the 30th and 20th anniversaries of their Grammy-winning albums “Dookie” and “American Idiot,” respectively. The event is a big deal for die-hard fans, as it marks the first time in which Green Day has played either of the beloved albums in full.
