BEVERLY, W.Va (WDTV) – The Town of Beverly will no longer have a dedicated police force.

Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon confirmed Thursday that the Beverly Police Department has been disbanded.

Elbon said the decision was made during a recent town council meeting.

Although the sheriff did not give any official reason why the department was disbanded, he said the officers that were employed by the town are no longer working.

Elbon said Beverly residents can still call 911 if they have an emergency and that the sheriff’s office will respond to the call.
