Two men have been jailed after officers uncovered thousands of pounds of cocaine and cash during a search in Renfrewshire earlier this year. James Murray, 58, was sentenced to four years and Connor Murray, aged 29, to six years at the High Court in Glasgow for firearm and drug offences on Friday September 6.

They were arrested in March 2024 after officers searched a property and vehicle on Greenock Road, Bishopton. Cocaine with an estimated street value of around £149,000, along with a six-figure sum of cash and a firearm were recovered.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “This was a significant seizure that has undoubtedly disrupted the supply of illegal drugs in our community and taken a dangerous weapon off our streets.

“It also underlines our continued commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“We hope that this sends a clear message that that we will continue to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice those involved in such criminal activities.

“Information from the public is crucial and I would urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
