Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes are thought to be on the outs after they cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs from different suites during their home opener.

Speculation about the status of the 34-year-old Grammy winner’s friendship with Patrick Mahomes’ wife, 28 ratcheted up Thursday due to the physical distance between them when the team won 27-20 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Some fans think Mahomes’ apparent support of former President Donald Trump last month could have caused a rift between the pair. However, the Mahomes family recently spent a weekend at Swift’s Rhode Island mansion together along with an A-list crowd that included Swift’s tight end boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

Though Swift has yet to publicly endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, she endorsed President Biden in the 2020 race and regularly encourages her wide swath of fans to get out and vote.

Mahomes has faced backlash since reportedly liking Republican nominee Trump’s Instagram post outlining his platform. The former commander-in-chief assures supporters he’ll “carry out the largest deportation operation in American history” and “cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology” or anything else he feels is “inappropriate.”

Much of the criticisms leveled against Mahomes have scrutinized her apparent agreement with such positions even though both her husband and their children are Black.

“Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights and your kids’ rights,” tweeted one user. “Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but married to a Black man with mixed kids is insane.”

“How do you vote for someone that you KNOW is racist, when you have biracial BLACK children? HOW?” asked another user.

In an apparent nod to the hate she received online, Mahomes subsequently slammed “haters” and, days later, reportedly liked an Instagram user praising her for not “backing down,” only to remove the like.

Earlier this week, the Republican hopeful thanked “beautiful” Mahomes for being “someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM.”
