PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – The search for a missing nurse in Oregon has ended in tragedy.

According to Beaverton police, Providence St. Vincent nurse Melissa Jubane, 32, has been found dead and her neighbor is facing a murder charge in connection with her death.

Jubane went missing earlier this week and authorities said they were informed of her disappearance on Wednesday after she did not report for your morning shift at the hospital.

Beaverton police officers searched Jubane’s apartment but there was no sign of her.

Officers and family members also tried to contact the missing woman throughout the day but were unsuccessful, as her phone appeared to be turned off.

Additionally, police said searches of Jubane’s bank and credit card records yielded no new information regarding her location.

Authorities said Jubane was entered into national law enforcement databases as a missing person on Wednesday.

Investigators later found that one of Jubane’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was involved in her disappearance.

Schubert was arrested Friday night and charged with her murder.

Jubane’s remains were also recovered.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community members who have assisted with the search for Melissa,” Beaverton police said in a statement Saturday morning. “Our deepest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends and co-workers.”

A spokesperson for the Providence St. Vincent Hospital said the team is heartbroken over the news.

“Our hearts are broken at the news of the death of our Providence St. Vincent nurse and colleague, Melissa Jubane. This comes as a shock to us all and she is mourned by her co-workers. Melissa was an exceptional nurse. We appreciate all the expressions of concern from the community. Melissa was a person of Providence, and we will miss her,” the statement said.

Police did not release any further immediate information.
