Kate Middleton announced yesterday that she has finished her cancer treatment and will soon return to full-time work as a royal – and it could be much sooner than most think.

The Princess of Wales had taken months to focus on her treatment and spend time with her young family, only appearing a few times in the midst of her battle with cancer.

Kate, 42, appeared at the Wimbledon men’s final match in July, where she was given a standing ovation, and also made a brief appearance at Trooping the Colour.

It was reported Kate is hoping to join the King and her family at the Cenotaph for the National Service of Remembrance on November 10, meaning the public could see the princess’ return to duty in just weeks.

But leading royal expert Duncan Larcombe has revealed to Metro that the Princess is likely to have her triumphant return sooner.

He said: ‘The fact the royals released that video is a sign that she’s ready now, she’s ready to go back and we’ll probably see her before November.

‘It might be Kate wants to reconnect with some of her key charities and organisations on a lowkey basis. I think she will probably have an increased interest in cancer charities,’ Mr Larcombe said.

‘I think she’ll definitely know what people are going through and she’ll want to shine a light on that.

‘It’s quite common for the Royals to attach themselves to causes which they can actually speak authoritatively on. Kate now can speak on cancer scares.’

If Kate doesn’t make public appearances before the Remembrance Day service in November, held in Whitehall, London, it’s likely she will make her first big appearance at the service.

A number of wreaths will also be laid at the monument during the service, which will last around 25 minutes. It’s hoped Kate will be among those laying the wreaths.

Royal aides have also reportedly begun planning for the annual ‘Together at Christmas’ televised event at Westminster Abbey in December – which the princess leads.

Though Kate has been out of the public eye, she has continued working on projects, such as one on farmers’ mental health.

Describing the relief of chemotherapy ending after an ‘incredibly tough’ nine months, Kate announced she will soon return to her royal duties.

She won’t be back in the spotlight full-time, however, sticking to a light programme of public engagements for the rest of the year as she recovers.

Kate has also enjoyed the summer with her three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis while she recovers.

In an emotional video yesterday, she said she had finished her cancer treatment and shared moments with Prince William and their kids, exploring a forest, walking through tall grass and laughing around a table.

‘Life as you know it can change in an instant’, Kate said. ‘And we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.

‘The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.

‘With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.

‘This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted.

‘Of simply loving and being loved.’
