A former laser tag venue in Cumbernauld could reopen as a gym if North Lanarkshire Council approves the change.

The building, in Badenheath Place in the Westfield Park industrial and business area, is currently empty but was last used for the entertainment activity, but London-based property company CEG has submitted a planning application proposing a change of use to allow it to operate it as a gym.

Documents explain that the previous planning consent for the building, awarded in 2017, is believed to have restricted its use to laser tag so although a gym would fall within the same category of use, the application has been made so this restriction can be removed.

According to CEG’s website the company has a property portfolio worth around £800 million with a rental income of around £50 million.
