Durie’s Boxing Club had four wins in their first ever Boxing Alliance Scotland home show.
Friday the 13th may be unlucky for some, but head coach Archie Durie was delighted with performances from his boxers, and reactions from a sell-out crowd at the King’s Park Hotel.
Cub boxers Cruz Tweedlie, Zaid Allah, Aryaan Khan and Kai Ryan kicked off the night with skills bouts.
Lucas Ewan put on a sparring display with Irish champion Padraig Walsh, before the main evening’s 13 fights got underway.
Durie’s had wins for Danyal Khan, Mohammed Dean Khan, Ross McNeil and Joe McClue, the latter of whom was also declared best home boxer of the night.
They also suffered six defeats, with all four debutants losing in Ayaan Khan, Ava Short, Ged Milloy and Garry Cowan, plus Nathan Rodden and Mo Karimi.
An extra bout was put on between Adam Gallagher of Antonine BC and Barrhead’s Liam Moohan, with Gallagher taking the win.
Durie’s boxer Kaylah Lynch also entertained the crowd with an exhibition sparring match with Jessica O’Hara of Imacullata BC.
An auction was held on the evening, with several items raising £1300 for the club.
Head coach Archie Durie said: “That was our Blairbeth club making history by hosting the first ever event for the new Boxing Alliance Scotland.
“Everything was working against us building this show, but there are too many good people around myself and the club not to succeed, so we put on a belter of a show.
“Every one of our boxers and young cubs were all amazing. We had six of our boxers make their first appearance in the ring on the night.
“My coaches Abie Tweedlie and Nathan Rodden were outstanding on a really busy night, but what a night it was for the packed King’s Park Hotel audience, and one that will be remembered by all.”
