Manchester City star Rodri was forced off the pitch in tears after appearing to suffer a serious knee injury in the early stages of the Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The Spain international jarred his right knee horribly inside his own area with just 16 minutes on the clock on Sunday afternoon.
Rodri received treatment on the pitch before hobbling off with the help of City’s medical staff.
Mateo Kovacic was brought onto replace the midfield star.
Rodri, who played a pivotal role in Spain’s Euro 2024 success this summer, only started his first game of the season on Wednesday in the goalless draw with Inter Milan.
City had taken the lead after nine minutes with Erling Haaland latching onto a superb through ball from Savinho before slotting past David Raya.
Shortly after Rodri’s injury, Arsenal drew level with Riccardo Calafiori curling in a superb effort on his full Premier League debut for the club.
An incensed Pep Guardiola kicked his chair in the dugout in frustration, with City players furious the goal was allowed to stand.
In a thrilling first half, Gabriel Magalhaes slammed home another superb header to give his side the lead, having also scored the winner in last Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.
There was more drama in injury time with Leandro Trossard shown a second yellow card for kicking the ball away and delaying the restart.
