BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -In Mercer County a local church gathered to have their annual food festival that brings food and people together from around the world.

St. Mary’s Orthodox Church has been hosting their annual World Food Festival for over a decade.

This event is one the church members and community look forward to each year in September.

This year the church featured food from Greece, Romania, America and more.

The priest for St. Mary’s says that this event brings together the community and unites them with fellowship.

“It’s such a wonderful event. I think everyone comes here and they get a better appreciation for the area and what we have to offer because we have a very multicultural community here in Bluefield and farther and to be able to bring so many people in here to try new foods to be able to just experience, and maybe see a church they’ve never seen before and to do these sorts of things. It’s a very awakening experience and I think a lot of people come and just enjoy having the fellowship together,” said Father Foster.

Father Foster invites everyone to join them next year on the third Saturday of September to try new food and get exposure to different types of cultures in the community.
