A woman left social media users gobsmacked after sharing a ‘how to be a good wife‘ list allegedly given to her by her mother-in-law.

The list, posted on social media, included tasks such as preparing breakfast and cleaning the entire house, hitting the gym daily, and always being supportive and cheerful to keep the husband content.

The note read: “Lisa’s daily routine for becoming a better wife.” It started with a 5.00am alarm to prepare breakfast, which should always consist of eggs, toast, bacon, and freshly brewed coffee, all ready by 5.30am.

Next up was exercise, with the note reading: “Gym from 6.00 am to 7.00 am keep in shape. No excuses.”

From 7.30am to 9.30am, the wife is expected to clean the entire house, including “vacuuming, dusting and mopping the floors”. The note continued: “Laundry must be done daily and folded by 10am.”

Once all the cleaning is done, lunch should be prepared for the husband, if he’s at home, or made the night before for him to take to work. When the husband finishes his day, dinner should be served no later than 6.30pm. The note stated: “A fresh home-cooked meal every day. No takeout allowed!”

And if you thought the evenings were free, think again. Lisa is expected to be available for her husband and any guests he might invite over, providing them with drinks and homemade snacks. The list also insists the house should be quiet by 9.00pm to allow the husband some downtime after his taxing day.

Once all tasks are completed, the wife is permitted to retire at 10.00pm, ready for an early rise, but only if the home is immaculate, lunch is prepared, and the husband’s needs are met. It concluded: “Smile and be supportive no matter how tired you are because a good wife keeps the household stress-free!”

Despite a resurgence in the ‘tradwife’ movement, this antiquated-sounding checklist was met with derision by many. One user commented: “INSANE OH I almost couldn’t breathe from laughter oh my God ahahhaaaa.” Another remarked sarcastically: “If I wanted a life this regimented I’d have stayed in prison.”

A third shared their perspective: “I’ll be married 28 years in a couple months. Doormats aren’t attractive. Do this stuff out of love, not obligation. If you don’t do this stuff, it doesn’t mean you’re a ‘bad’ wife.”

Yet, not everyone expressed shock. A respondent said: “I don’t see the problem with this. it’s obvious the this is a good SAH agenda. if she worked it would say work on her schedule. If i’m at home all the and my husband works and pays all the bills, I’m doing all of this.”

Another individual commented: “Seems like a nice easy life Lisa has if taking care of kids isn’t even included in this. Honestly I’d be able to do all these things also if my 6-9am, 12-3pm and 7-11pm wasn’t designated for kids and work.”
