As the cooler and more unpredictable weather begins to set in, you might be considering dusting off your Ugg boots and bundling up in cosy attire.

However, these shoes are notorious for not faring well in typical Scots weather and can be easily ruined. But don’t discard them just yet – one woman has revealed a ‘genius’ trick that will make your Ugg boots look as good as new in no time at all.

Phoebe Waites shared her hack on the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group, showing how to rejuvenate your fluffy boots without spending a fortune, reports the Mirror.

She posted: “From seeing the posts about cleaning Ugg boots, I thought I would attempt to bring mine back to life. I am so happy with the result!”

The first step she took was to stuff each boot with newspaper to reshape them before spraying white vinegar over the entire suede surface of the boot. She then gently brushed the suede all over, recommending using strokes and light circles.

Next, she used a damp cloth to blot the suede all over to remove any excess dirt and vinegar, then left them under a radiator to dry. Once dry, she gave them another brush, and they were as good as new.

Phoebe added: “They’re super soft again and have held the shape like they’re new again.”

Social media users have been left astounded by a savvy shoe restoration hack, with many eagerly posting in the comments to praise the woman’s clever technique.

“What kind of sorcery is this?” one amazed Facebook user enquired. Another humorously commented: “This is amazing!” and a third chimed in saying, “Wow, are they really the same boots? My son bought me a pair for Christmas, I’ve spilt oil on them I’m gutted, think I’ll try this today, thanks for sharing.”

One follower complimented: “You’ve done a fabulous job!”

“Definitely doing this,” a fifth person stated confidently, adding: “They look like new. Thanks for the tips!” Injecting a bit of humour, another said: “I was half expecting the last step to be ‘give up throw away and buy new ones’. Looks as good as new!”

“Shut up they don’t even look like the same pair of boots,” exclaimed another, visibly impressed: “They literally look like they’ve just come out of the box! What an amazing job you’ve done!”

Once your Ugg boots look pristine again, turning your attention to waterproofing them might be wise. Various social media users advise that wearing your Uggs without any protection against the elements is a mistake – and they share how to safeguard them in wet weather.

On TikTok, Avery Lou shared a “friendly reminder” with her followers, pointing out that it’s “officially the season to weatherproof your Uggs.” She also vouched for their “completely waterproof” state following her successful method.

She reached for an ‘all protector’ spray from Kiwi, designed to shield shoes from rain and stains – and it costs just £8.99 on Amazon.

After applying it liberally to her mustard seed shade Uggs, she noticed a slight darkening in colour, but commenters reassured that this was temporary and they would “go back to their normal colour.”
