A Scottish man has been left shocked after coming across a massive rat – which he initially believed was a cat – in Glasgow.

Alan Lee had been walking around Kinning Park in the southside of the city on Monday, September 16, when he saw the huge rodent running around, reports Glasgow Live.

The local filmed the huge creature as it scurried around, hunting for food at around 4.40pm.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Alan said that he was horrified at the size of the beast, adding: “When I spotted it all I could think is how massive it was. I’ve never seen something so big.

“I thought it was a cat at first. It was a bit of a shock to see it out in broad daylight like that. There were two but I only managed to catch one on camera. It was about the same size.

“I’ve seen rats before in Glasgow but never when it’s that bright. I’m not sure if it’s the extra bins in the area which are encouraging them to come out. They weren’t scared. Both just running about the street.”

Glasgow City Council has been contacted for comment.
