Spectators had a quacking good time as the Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright staged its annual duck race – at the second time of asking.

The fun occasion had been postponed from August 25 because of bad weather and was the final event of the summer.

A horde of 2,000 ducks swam up river towards the bridge watched by an expectant crowd of adults and children – all keen to find out who had won the valuable prizes on offer.

The weather was kind and everyone enjoyed the event.

The first and second prize winners came from Dumfries and Galloway with third place being won by a visitor from Newcastle.

The proceeds of the event will be distributed by the Rotary Club to various local and international charitable causes, so the event has once again been a great success.

The Rotary Club is very grateful to all who participated with a special thanks going to the Sea Cadets, without whose help the event would not be possible.
