BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – “There’s a feeling in the air that you can’t anywhere but West Virginia. I taste a thousand yesterdays and I love the magic ways of Virginia.”

Those iconic verses soared across the airwaves of the Two Virginias into homes and ears of viewers of WVVA-TV in the 1980s.

The voice behind our TV jingle–Florence Warner has passed away at the age of 77 our sister station confirms.

Warner’s voice, and familiar lyrics composed by Frank Gari were heard throughout the country in similar promotional campaigns.

The singer also lent her talents to Burger King, Sprite and Folgers ads.’

Warner released three studio LPs, 1974′s self-titled album, Florence Warner, 1981′s Another Hot Night & 1982′s Just Believe It. Listen to her debut LP below.

She performed backing vocals for artists including Jimmy Buffett and the animated series, Jem and the Holograms.
