A teenager who fled when police raided a house party faces being locked up after leaving behind a £14,000 bag of cocaine with his fingerprints on it.

Ciaran Ramsay, 19, answered the door to police and let them in, but fled when they started to have a look around the property.

Officers found a bag of cocaine sitting on a shelf and when tests were carried out it was found to contain nearly 150 grams and belong to Ramsay. Ramsay, Primrose Crescent, Perth, admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.

The court heard he handed himself in days after fleeing, but fell asleep during a phone call to his solicitor because he had taken so much cannabis.

Fiscal depute Joanne Ritchie told the court: “Police got a call from an anonymous member of the public about an ongoing party and drug dealing.

Officers attended and could hear music coming from within. They knocked and the door was answered by Ramsay. He was informed that they required to come in. He stated it was just himself and a friend. The accused ran out of the front door and out of the block. He was pursued but was lost to sight.”

She said, two days later the accused “presented himself at Perth police office. He was cautioned and arrested. It took considerable time to rouse him.

“He appeared to be heavily under the influence and unable to keep his eyes open, and was unsteady. He stated he had taken cannabis. He got to phone his solicitor, but appeared to fall asleep mid-call.”

Sheriff George Way deferred sentence for reports to Perth Sheriff Court on 23 October and Ramsay’s bail was continued.
