A Place in the Sun star Jean Johansson was left gobsmacked as a guest suddenly stopped a property search in an awkward moment.
During Tuesday’s (September 24) repeated episode of the Channel 4 hit show, Jean was on a mission to find Katie her dream holiday home in Paphos, Cyprus.
Fitness instructor Katie was on the hunt for a home with sea views so she could escape the cold winters in the UK and make new memories with her family.
The mother-of-five has a budget of £83,000 and was accompanied by her son Michael, 37, who was there to offer some advice along the way.
Pulling out all the stops, Jean set up five impressive properties to show them and things were off to a good start as Katie claimed that the first home was ‘gorgeous’.
The property was on the market for £77,000 and included one bedroom, a communal pool and views of the Mediterranean Sea but it wasn’t the home for Katie as she was hoping she could find a property closer to a beach.
Things then took a turn as the third home didn’t go down well with Katie and Michael. As they approached the property, a worried Jean went on to say: “You’re both so quiet, please talk to me.”
Katie was not pleased as she explained: “It’s nothing as nice as the last couple of properties.” The pair were reluctant to go inside but Jean insisted on them taking a look in hope they would change their mind.
As they stepped inside, which was above their budget, Michael said: “It’s not the same as the others, the view and the outside. If she was going to go above the budget then you’ve gotta be like ‘wow’.
Jean asked: “Does this place have enough for you to spend that money?” Katie jumped in and said: “No” and Michael agreed.
Jean went on to say: “Is there a point in me showing you the rest?” Katie admitted: “Not really no.” Jean asked: “You’re that sure?”
Katie revealed: “Yes, yes there is no point.” The viewings were then cut short but Jean brushed herself off and continued the search. In the end Katie put in an offer for £70,000 on the first apartment and it got accepted.
