BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -Bluefield, West Virginia is offering a new opportunity for young entrepreneurs.

The city’s economic development” director says they’re looking for kids to showcase their products for this year’s youth small business Saturday.

It’s coming up Saturday, November 30. and Jim Spencer Executive director of the Bluefield Economic Development Authority (Beda) tells us he started the program last year in a pop-up shop for those 18 years old and younger.

Set-up in the Craft Memorial Library, the program proved to be a hit.

It also fits in well with the one of the themes of small business Saturday, look local first

which reminds residents to support locally owned and operated businesses this year. Spencer says he wants to see more youth participate not only to learn about establishing a business…but to sell their products as vendors.

“So I think first off getting young people exposed at a younger age is good. Number two, we want to support them in their endeavor and help them all the way through the process. You could be the world’s greatest chef and still fail if can’t control your costs and do other things, so your business operates successfully”

Any kids or parents interested in signing up can do so by completing a form available online at mybluefield.Org.
