Bluefield’s Oktoberfest brews up a new location

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -The Bluefield Beautification Commission is holding its annual Oktoberfest this Saturday in a new location.

This year, instead of having the event inside Bluefield City Park, the Oktoberfest will be held on Commerce Street in downtown Bluefield.

The event will feature food from local restaurants and food trucks along with an assortment of beer, live music and more.

Funds raised at the event are used by the Bluefield Beautification Commission to supply the city with items such as flowers, benches, trash cans and more in its annual clean-up effort.

The Beautification Commission feels like the change of location will have a positive impact with the event.

“To have it uptown in the city, we’re trying to create more of the community participating and seeing what’s available uptown in our city and on the city streets,” said Bluefield Beautification member Debrah Ammar. “We’re hoping that people will participate and come out to support us. I think it’ll be a great change.”

This event is from 3-7p.m. this Saturday September 28. All attendees must be 21 or older. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at any Grant’s Supermarket location, David’s Downtown, Blue Spoon Cafe, Magnolia on Jefferson or online.
