Outlander enthusiasts have been captivated by Sam Heughan’s impressive Jamie Fraser wig in the latest behind-the-scenes update.
The popular Starz series is celebrating its 100th episode, with just one more to film before the final season is complete.
On Instagram, the official Outlander account posted a photo of Sam, Caitriona Balfe, David Berry who plays Lord John Grey, and producer Matthew B Roberts to mark the occasion.
The actors were dressed in full period costume, with Sam brandishing a historically accurate sword to slice a cake commemorating Outlander’s milestone.
However, fans couldn’t resist commenting on how different the Scottish actor’s hair appeared compared to previous seasons.
Jamie has sported a long ponytail in recent episodes, but in this behind-the-scenes image, his wig’s fiery locks were left to cascade over his shoulders.
“JAMIE’S HAIRRRRRR,” one Instagram follower exclaimed.
Another commented: “LOVE Jamie’s hair! FINALLY, the first wig I’ve actually liked since Sam used his real hair in S1 & 2.
“He does look a bit like a pirate here, which might be why I like it more.”
This change, which may or may not feature in the actual episodes when the eighth season is finally aired, also sparked discussion among fans on Reddit.
“We finally getting some scenes with Jamie’s long hair down??? Pls I beg!” one fan pleaded in a recent post.
A smitten fan gushed: “I gotta say — the long flowing locks framing that brilliant smile — be still, my heart.”
Another loyal viewer expressed their anticipation: “It’s described that way SO often in the books! I hope we’ll see it on screen too!”
Starz’s hit historical fantasy series Outlander, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s beloved novels, is expected to wrap up with its 10th book.
