BECKLEY, W.Va. – Two people from Oak Hill have been sentenced to ten years in prison for felony crime of conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

The Fayette County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney said 39-year-old Benjamin N. Vargas, and 36-year-old Stacey D. Norris both plead guilty and the Prosecuting Attorney said both must serve at least two and a half years in prison before they are eligible for parole.

According to the Prosecuting Attorney, in 2023 undercover law enforcement officers bought suspected heroin or fentanyl from Vargas and Norris from a house on Rodgers Street in Oak Hill on three separate occasions.

The investigation found that both were working together to arrange sales and to sell the drugs to a cooperating person, the Prosecuting Attorney said.

Lab testing showed that the drugs sold by Vargas and Norris were a mixture of fentanyl, xylazine, and methamphetamine, according to the Prosecuting Attorney.
