BECKLEY, W.Va. – A record $157,529 was raised at the 19th Annual Friends of Charity Auto Fair in July, providing a substantial impact for Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Brian’s Safehouse.

The July event at the Raleigh County Airport drew almost 8,000 people over two days, featuring 522 registered in the car show, with plenty of activities, food, music and fireworks.

Janett Green, Chief Executive Officer of Hospice of Southern West Virginia, expressed gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support.

“The Friends of Charity Auto Fair plays a crucial role in enabling both Hospice of Southern West Virginia and Brian’s Safehouse to continue their vital service,” Green said. “We are profoundly thankful to the businesses, organizations, car enthusiasts, and visitors whose continued support and generosity ensured the fair’s success.”

A check was presented to the charities at a dinner held Wednesday night.

Planning has already started for the 20th Annual Friends of Charity Auto Fair set for July 11-12, 2025 once again at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport, and promises to be another spectacular event supporting these vital community organizations.

Hospice of Southern WV is a private, nonprofit organization designed to attend to the needs of people suffering from life-limiting illnesses and to serve the families caring for them. HSWV focuses on providing comfort and dignity, aiming to fulfill the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of the dying and their loved ones. In 2023, HSWV served nearly 1,500 people across Fayette, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming counties.

Brian’s Safehouse is a non-profit organization where those who are seeking to break free from the chaos and hopelessness of addiction can experience the life-restoring powers of God. The program is about restoration and freedom, about becoming someone who has self-respect and the respect of others. Brian’s Safehouse is a faith-based, four-phase, residential recovery program.
