It’s a return to Premiership action for Celtic this weekend and they are on the road.

Brendan Rodgers takes his side to St Johnstone in the Saturday evening kick-off with a chance to move eight points clear of Rangers before they take on Hibs the following day. It looked like Rodgers might be in line to face former skipper Scott Brown as St Johnstone chased the Ayr Utd boss to be their new gaffer. But he’s since pulled out of the running and caretaker Andy Kirk will likely be in charge for this one.

The champions were given a scare in the Premier Sports Cup by Falkirk last week, but came good when Rodgers introduced the big guns from the bench. They’ll be in the from the start this weekend as the Hoops look to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season. Saints have been focused on replacing Craig Levein and while few will give them a chance of winning, Rodgers will be wary of a team looking to show a reaction after seeing the previous boss sacked.
