A Scottish runner is not only turning heads with her impressive accolades but also due to the fact that she is achieving it whilst naked. Dawn Roden, from West Lothian, has been nominated for Achiever of the Year at the jogScotland Awards 2024.

As an inspirational member of the Longridge jogScotland community, the runner has proved that not even clothing can slow down her enthusiasm for life as she’s nominated for the award that shines a spotlight on participants who have demonstrated outstanding personal achievement, overcoming obstacles, and showing dedication to their own health and wellbeing.

Having starting her running journey in December 2018 – initially at Parkrun – Dawn has quickly become a corner-stone member of the Longridge group as she continues to smile at her own pace.

However, despite classing herself as a ‘plodder’ and having done a half marathon this year,, she wanted a new challenge and decided to take part in a naked 5km as a sponsorship opportunity to raise money for the group.

Taking place at an organised event in London in May, Dawn ran 5k naked, apart from trainers. Talking about the event afterwards she said: “Who knew naked bodies running were so noisy? It was like running accompanied by my own castanets.”

Jogscotland received more than 130 nominations across the four categories this year and the winners will be announced on Saturday, October 26, at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, with Guest of Honour being Scottish endurance legend, Liz McColgan.

On receiving her nomination, Dawn said: “I can’t believe anyone would nominate me, let alone be a finalist. I am lost for words. And that’s not like me.”

Whether she scoops the award in October or not, Dawn isn’t stopping and the following week has signed up for the Glen Ogle 33 Ultra Marathon where she vows to remain fully clothed throughout.
