Endless hours are spent in rehearsals as celebrities strive to impress the judges on Strictly Come Dancing each year. However, there’s another incentive to reach the final weeks as their paychecks increase.
From reality TV stars to sports and soap stars, all are reportedly paid the same flat rate fee of £25,000, regardless of their varying levels of fame. This amount is said to be non-negotiable with the show’s producers, with it increasing the longer they stay on the BBC show.
Yet, bonuses are available for those who excel on the show, adding even more competitive spirit. If the celebs make it past Blackpool and the quarter-final, their salary jumps to £60,000.
But that’s not all. If they then impress the judges and viewers enough to reach the semi-final, they receive a paycheck of £75,000. However, the winner walks away from one of the UK’s most popular TV shows with a cool £100,000, reports the Mirror.
It’s been all abuzz that Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly are said to be earning a sweet £150,000 per series, placing Claudia as the BBC’s top-earning female with a cool £1 million paycheck. Meanwhile, Wynne Evans another big name this year and famous for his GoCompare ads has reportedly accumulated over a whopping £100 million fortune.
Wynne fondly reminisced on the benefits his fame has brought him, expressing: “The advert gave me the opportunity to make an album that I wouldn’t have got otherwise. I feel incredibly fortunate. I read in the press that I was paid £450,000 for a two-year deal with GoCompare as long as I didn’t lose weight. What a wonderful diet plan! They are generous, but unfortunately the story is not true.”
Reflecting on his income compared to other celebrities, Wynne revealed last year: “Like Gary Lineker, I work for the BBC and appear in a long-running advertising campaign. But sadly, he earns somewhat more than me. Gary topped the BBC pay list in the 2023-24 financial year again this year, after receiving more than £1.35 million for presenting Match of the Day and other sports coverage for the British broadcaster.”

He once quipped about his earnings back in 2016, downplaying the notion of “silly money” for his work while acknowledging some astonishing paydays: “Silly money? That would suggest that I’ve been paid too much, and that’s never happened! But yeah, you do have to pinch yourself sometimes, and think: ‘Gosh, I’m very lucky.’ For example, I once did an opera recording where I only had about six notes to sing. I was paid the equivalent of £300 a note. That was fantastic.”
Wynne expressed his astonishment at joining Strictly Come Dancing, saying with a dash of humour: “I am honestly still pinching myself, a portly balding opera singer, me, taking part in Strictly Come Dancing? ! I’m not entirely sure how I’ll get along, if all else fails I’ll just have to learn the art of distraction.”
He continued with enthusiasm: “What I do know is I will give it my all and aim to make Wales proud. I’m definitely going to try and combine my love of Opera into one of my routines. Plus, after winning Celebrity MasterChef last year, maybe the route to the judges’ hearts will be through their stomachs! ” However, Ladbroke suggests Wynne might not be a favourite to win, as his odds have been cut from 50/1 to 33/1.
