Forrest Gump, the iconic film directed by Robert Zemeckis, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and fans can now watch it for free.
The historical drama is currently available to stream for anyone with a Sky Cinema or NOW Cinema subscription.
First hitting screens in 1994, the film stars Tom Hanks as Forrest, a simple but determined man with an IQ of 75.
Throughout his life, Forrest meets significant political and cultural figures, experiences life-altering events and strives to win the love of his childhood sweetheart Jenny Curran (played by Robin Wright).

Tom Hanks
Actor, writer and director Tom Hanks remains a Hollywood heavyweight, with his films grossing nearly an astonishing $10 billion worldwide.
After making his name in comedies like Splash and Big, he has since explored every genre imaginable, from the survival drama Cast Away, war classic Saving Private Ryan to sci-fi epic Cloud Atlas.
His latest roles include playing beloved children’s TV host Mr Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Elvis Presley’s infamous manager Colonel Tom Parker in Elvis and a grieving father in Asteroid City.
He has recently reunited with Forrest Gump director Zemeckis and co-star Wright for the ambitious drama Here, which tells a family story spanning decades from a single perspective.
Also the author of two books, Uncommon Type and The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, Hanks has been married to his wife Rita Wilson since 1988. They have two sons, including internet personality and actor Chet.
Robin Wright
Robin Wright, Hanks’ co-star, is equally adored by fans for her roles in iconic films such as The Princess Bride and Unbreakable.
She has appeared in several recent franchise films, including Wonder Woman, Blade Runner 2049 and Justice League, and made her directorial debut with the 2021 film Land. Robin is also recognised for her role in the hit Netflix series House of Cards.
After a tumultuous relationship with Sean Penn, their divorce was finalised in 2010. Wright then began a relationship with actor Ben Foster. They were engaged twice but eventually ended their relationship in 2015.
She started dating Saint Laurent executive Clement Giraudet in 2017 and they secretly married the following year. However, Wright filed for divorce in 2022.
Gary Sinise
Gary Sinise, who played Lieutenant Dan Taylor, has faced personal challenges away from the screen.
His wife Moira Harris was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018, but she is now thankfully cancer-free.
However, in January of this year, he suffered a heartbreaking loss when their son McCanna ‘Mac’ Anthony Sinise passed away after being diagnosed with chordoma, a rare spine cancer, also in 2018.
In 2011, Gary Sinise established the Gary Sinise Foundation, a charity that offers support and programmes for injured veterans. This was likely inspired by his role as an amputee in Forrest Gump and his upbringing in a family of veterans.
Mykelti Williamson
Despite playing one of Forrest Gump’s most memorable supporting characters, Benjamin Buford ‘Bubba’ Blue, actor Mykelti Williamson hasn’t achieved the same level of Hollywood success as some of his co-stars.
That said, his career is far from lacklustre, having appeared in several popular films such as Lucky Number Slevin, Black Dynamite, The Purge: Election Year and Fences, alongside Denzel Washington and Viola Davis.
He has also secured significant roles in popular American series like Designated Survivor, Chicago P. D., the Lethal Weapon reboot and this year’s Fallout.
Additionally, he has expanded his career behind the scenes, directing episodes of shows in the Chicago Franchise, FBI and Sweet Magnolias, as well as the TV film Spring Breakthrough.
Haley Joel Osment
Best known for his role in The Sixth Sense, former child star Haley Joel Osment has recently focused on indie films, television and voice acting.
His career took a hit in 2006 when a car accident resulted in a broken rib and a fractured shoulder blade. After pleading no contest to driving under the influence and drug possession, he was sentenced to three years probation and 60 hours in alcohol rehab.
However, he made a comeback in 2014 with a role in Kevin Smith’s cult comedy-horror Tusk, and later secured parts in Entourage, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and Amazon Prime Video’s popular superhero series The Boys.
His most recent film role was in Blink Twice, a thriller directed by Zoe Kravitz and starring Channing Tatum. Could this signal the beginning of Haley’s Hollywood resurgence?
