Yet, it doesn’t need to be this way, as with proper storage your spinach could stay fresh for much longer. A useful hack from TikToker @shopnaturalgrocers has surfaced, showing you how to keep your “spinach lasting for up to one month” – and it’s incredibly straightforward.

To begin with, “line an airtight container with unbleached paper towels or a dishcloth”. Next, “stack layers of spinach with the towels”. After that, close the container tightly and pop it into the fridge.

Should you observe any “moisture on the top towel” at some point, simply “switch it out to keep it fresher for a longer period”. And there you have it!

Experts at Master Class also suggest freezing spinach to prolong its usability, stating that it retains its goodness for “six months”.

They advise: “Freezing a surplus of spinach is a great idea when you plan to use the veggie in a dish where it doesn’t need to be fresh – for example, in an omelette or a puree.”

The process of freezing spinach effectively involves washing and discarding any spoiled portions. Boil the leaves, then blanch them. Once drained, let them cool and re-drain. Afterwards, it’s ready for freezer storage, ensuring you have a stock of spinach for up to six months whenever your recipes call for some greens.

Master Class further advises: “Before freezing spinach, ball it up in your hands and either wrap each ball tightly in plastic wrap or put them in an airtight bag with the air removed to prevent freezer burn.

“Finally, place the spinach in the freezer for up to six months.”
