Comedian Lucy Beaumont has confessed to “sometimes feeling guilty” in the aftermath of her split from Jon Richardson, while also discussing her health disorder.

Back in April, the 41 year old comedian announced via a joint statement on Instagram that she and her comedy partner would be parting ways after nine years of wedded bliss. The pair have been a fixture on our screens since 2020, starring in Meet The Richardsons where they portray “exaggerated versions of themselves”.

Lucy, who bagged the BBC New Comedy award in 2012 and was crowned best newcomer at the Chortle awards the following year, first crossed paths with Jon at a comedy gig at the Fighting Cocks pub in Kingston upon Thames in 2013.

After tying the knot in 2015, the couple quickly became a double act, conducting interviews together, performing comedy shows, participating in charity gigs, and even hosting their own Channel 4 game show, Jon and Lucy’s Odd Couples, last year. However, it was their fly-on-the-wall mockumentary Meet The Richardsons that catapulted Lucy into a new stratosphere of fame.

In 2023, Lucy received a Bafta TV award nomination for her role in the show, which was also crowned best comedy at the Broadcast Digital awards in 2022. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Lucy revealed that she is unable to discuss the ongoing divorce due to legal advice but did confess to feeling “guilty” about one aspect of their relationship, reports the Mirror.

She stated: “I don’t regret anything. But equally, [over] this next stage I am very much keeping my personal life personal. I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad.”

Lucy expressed her gratitude for the opportunities she received, stating: “I think partly I was feeling grateful, grateful that I was getting the work, grateful that I was being interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice and share everything.”

As a seasoned comedian, Lucy has appeared on various comedy panel shows, including Would I Lie To You?, The Last Leg, and Have I Got News For You. She and her partner have a daughter, born in 2016.

Two years ago, Lucy received an ADHD diagnosis, which she described as “interesting being 40 and suddenly understanding a part of yourself when previously you’ve just thought you were a little bit unhinged.”

She explained that her brain resists organisation, making everyday tasks exhausting. “It means your brain doesn’t want you to organise things. For some reason, it doesn’t want to make life easy for you. I’ll get from A to B but I’ll exhaust myself doing it. The brain chatter of just going for a cup of tea with a friend,” she said.

However, her neurodiverse perspective also brings creative benefits, particularly in comedy. “You can’t get more neurodiverse than Basil Fawlty,” she quipped.

“You’re also in denial as well, and there’s nothing funnier than being flawed.”
