KIMBALL, W. Va. -The Head of the Dragon Festival, Kimball’s annual fall event, had some unexpected problems, with the town being one of the many places suffering from the power outage caused by the poor weather.
Despite this loss of power, the town continued their annual event on Saturday.
While there was a notable lack of participation this year, Kimball Police Department’s Chief Dalton Martin says around five to ten vendors still took part, making use of generators to keep things flowing relatively smoothly.
Despite the damage to the area, Chief Martin says it’s important to give the people of Kimball something to look forward to during these times.
“Well, it’s been pretty devastating to the community… they’re having a hard time. There’s actually some of the citizens that come out today to try to find places to charge some of their phones and things, so we’ve been helping them with that as well…”
In addition to the vendors, there was also a stilt walker, video game truck, and a show from the Premiere Wrestling League, who participated for the first time this year.
“We have a lot of people coming out here to check out the show, a lot of smiles and happy faces, and that’s what we want out of professional wrestling too,” says Evan Golden, a pro wrestler with with the Premiere Wrestling League.
The Head of the Dragon Festival is named after the motorcycle ride that runs through the area.
