East Tennessee K-9 officer found dead after going missing following flood(EPD)

ERWIN, Tenn. (WVLT) – An East Tennessee police department said one of its K-9 officers was found dead after going missing following historic flooding.

The Erwin Police Department said K-9 Scotty went missing from the Bumpass Cove area, which is about four miles west of Erwin, during Friday’s flood.

Unfortunately, the department said he was later found dead.

“Please pray for his handler and all who loved him,” EPD said.

Unicoi County, which Erwin serves as its county seat, dealt with devastating flooding that left dozens unaccounted for.

The flooding also led to more than 50 people being rescued from the Unicoi County Hospital roof after they became trapped on Friday.
