Ferne McCann revealed she’s lacing up her skates for the new series of Dancing On Ice.

The former TOWIE sensation has let slip that her personal reality show, My Family and Me will be wrapping up this year. However, she’s not bowing out from our screens anytime soon, confirming instead that an even more thrilling venture lies ahead.

Ferne explained that while she is temporarily shifting her daughter away from the public eye, she isn’t ready to say goodbye to the limelight herself – at least not yet, reports the Mirror.

In a lively announcement on Good Morning Britain, the reality TV favourite shared that she’ll be hitting the ice rink in ITV’s hit show and is set to commence her skating lessons next week. Despite her limited skills on the ice, which extend to supervising winter jaunts with penguins for the kids, she expressed an infectious enthusiasm about aiming for the crown come the end of the competition.

During her cheerful Monday conversation with hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on September 30, Ferne couldn’t contain her excitement: “I’m doing Dancing On Ice! So excited! I’ve done Winter Wonderland with the children, but the penguins the kids have got – I’m crunched over them!”

She continued with a sparkle in her eye: “I’m looking forward to it; it’s going to be a huge challenge. But the glitz and the glam, it’s going to be brilliant.”

Even though her Dancing On Ice partner remains unknown and rehearsals are yet to kick off, Ferne’s fighting spirit shone through as she confessed her competitive streak, coupled with high hopes of excelling on the frosty stage. “I’m looking forward to the challenge. We haven’t started training, we train next week. It’s the perfect timing with My Family and Me ending,” she concluded.

In a heartfelt revelation, Ferne shared her decision to take a break from her show. She explained the moment that prompted her choice: “The show has been going on for so long that we joked we’d still be filming when Sunday had children and be calling it Second Time Nan.

“But I knew the time would eventually come to either have a break or stop altogether, and for the last year I’ve been thinking about it. The point where everything changed was when Sunday actually said to me, ‘Am I famous?'”

She continued, expressing her discomfort: “A few of her friends had seen her on an advert. And I was like, ‘Oh I don’t know…’ It made me feel uncomfortable, because I don’t want her to feel she is different. Sunday has done the show since she was born, so she’s always been aware of the camera, but we’d never felt she was aware of the situation.”

Meanwhile, Dancing On Ice is set to return in January with its contestants being revealed gradually, echoing the approach of the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing line-up. In 2024, the ITV series saw Holly Willoughby team up with Stephen Mulhern, who stepped in for Phillip Schofield.
