Phillip Schofield has been sharing insights into his life away from the public eye as he embarks on Channel 5’s new survival series, Cast Away. The ex-This Morning host is set to forgo all creature comforts for a 10-day stint on an uninhabited island near Madagascar.

Facing a gruelling physical and mental ordeal, Phillip will be accompanied only by a few cameras to capture his journey. Channel 5 revealed: “This solitary island existence presents an opportunity for Phillip to confront the challenges of total isolation, the forces of nature and provides the time to battle within his own mind as he explores his own controversial story.”

The seasoned presenter acknowledged the difficulty of living without home luxuries, commenting: “This is most definitely a first for me and the only thing I felt compelled to do. It appealed to me on so many levels. I’ve recently had a lot of time to think about my life, what went right and what went wrong, but I’ve always had the safe arms of friends and family wrapped around me.”

He added: “This time it’s just me, no ‘phone, no comforts, no crew and only lip balm as a luxury. I’m looking forward to exploring the island, trying to tie knots to secure my shelter and foraging and fending for myself in the wild … with no help.”

Despite stepping back from the limelight over the past year, Schofield continues to earn a significant income, reports Cornwall Live.

The 62-year-old presenter has been out of work since he left ITV’s This Morning and Dancing on Ice, following his admission of an affair with a younger colleague. Despite this, Companies House records show that he still managed to earn an additional £383,266.

His company, Fistral Productions, reported that his liquid cash increased from £847,034 as of November 30, 2022, to £1,230,300 for the same period the following year.

The total value of his company, where his wife Stephanie Lowe is listed as a co-director, stands at £2,137,758.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Phillip is estimated to be worth around £9 million.

Having been a familiar face on television since the early 1980s, he became a household name in the 90s with shows like Schofield’s TV Gold.

In addition to his presenting roles, the TV personality has also had a few acting roles on stage.

It was reported that he earned £600,000 per year for presenting This Morning alongside Holly Willoughby, and £45,000 per show for Dancing on Ice.
